STVHCS To Get Fisher House
The South Texas Veterans Health Care
System has been selected by the Fisher
Foundation to receive a Fisher House in
support of our inpatient programs and our
Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center.
A Fisher House is a home-away-from-home
for the families of seriously ill or injured
patients receiving treatment at the South
Texas Veterans Health Care System. Fisher
House provides a caring, supportive
environment during life’s most difficult and
lonely times; it’s a family when it’s needed
most. Families who meet the eligibility
criteria and are accepted as guests stay
without cost. Through the generosity of
community donors we will be able to provide
lodging, food, and services at no costs to
the families.
Fisher House, Inc., is a non-profit
charitable corporation that manages and
operates the Fisher Houses for the
Department of Defense and the Department of
Veterans Affairs. Funding comes from
corporate, group, and individual donors.
Contributions are fully tax deductible.
Donations of cash, goods, services, and
volunteer time are always needed to ensure
the services remain free of charge for
guests. Please remember the San Antonio VA
Fisher House when you want to give of your
time or your treasures. If you wish to make
a donation, you can do so on the Fisher
House website, under their "Donate Online"
link here:
https://www.givedirect.org/give/givefrm.asp?CID=780.
To ensure the donation benefits our Fisher
House, please be sure and select "Fisher
House at South Texas VA - Audie Murphy" in
the program area drop down box on the right
side of the screen.
Inquiries may be directed to the South
Texas Veterans Health Care System Voluntary
Service Office at 210-617-5107.
