HILL COUNTRY VETERANS COUNCIL
July MEETING MINUTES
July19, 2008

Mr. Baltz, Director for STVHCS, Mrs. Gutierrez, Administrator, KVMC. Briefed the council on the status of programs on going for Kerrville and Audie Murphy. 

KVAMC:
1. A. The Pink Team doctor is leaving. A review is under
way to replace the doctor, (dissolve the Pink Team and absorb the patients into other teams. Each team is required by V. A. to have a certain patient load ) until the decision is made, patients will still be seen by the Pink Team, or temporally by   another team doctor. We will keep you updated. 
B. New Radiology is in, one exam room if fully installed and operating. The second should be fully operational shortly.
C. New C. T. equipment is in and necessary room renovations are in progress. Should be fully operational shortly.
D. Rumors about closing critical care unit, ie, emergency room on the weekend are incorrect.
E. Contracts to replace elevator at KVMC are scheduled for last of the physical quarter.

Audie Murphy:
A. Audie and Kerrville received full accreditations from "The Joint Commission" for all hospitals nationwide.
B. The PolyTrauma Center being built at Audie will also include 12 apartments for PolyTrauma patients during transmission treatment.
C. V. A. personnel will take over valet parking from contractor.
D. Ms. Purdy gave a briefing on "STVHCS Performance Dashboard June '08. (see attached update)
2. HCVC expressed concerns:
A. Lack of Urologist, patients now being seen by physician assistance from Audie.
B. Lack of Dermatologist, patients now being seen by local Fee Basis doctor.
C. Losses of other personnel.

We were advised finding skilled personnel is a big recruiting problem.
