The Pentagon is working with veterans groups to beef up military participation at soldiers' funerals. As part of the defense bill last
year, DOD has now launched the Authorized Provider Program, which will help train the staff needed to provide military honors at services for
deceased vets. The minimum honor provided upon request of the family will be two military personnel, one representing the service of the vet
and the other a bugler. But, Defense is hoping to expand its offerings by having a rifle squad, color guard or
pallbearers. For more information on how to request honors for a vet, contact your local installation commander.
